Popular Forms of CBD
Written by Morgan on January 22th 2021
In 2018, CBD was declassified from being a Schedule I narcotic with the Farm Bill. As resulting tidal wave of producers infested a newly formed market. Along with the producers came even more products. Consumers and experts came to learn more than expected regarding the value of certain production processes as well as types of products.

Since 2018, researchers and consumers alike have been learning more about CBD than ever before. Particularly intriguing is the types of products that are most popular, and why. When dealing with production, the needs of the customers and the types of products available, we can see an emerging market that is not done evolving.

Defining CBD
First let’s define Cannabidiol (CBD) in the manner described in the 2018 Farm Bill; basically any cannabis product having 0.3% or less of THC. Anything with higher than 0.3% CBD is considered marijuana and is considered a Schedule I drug.

Most Used Products
As this market has been growing over these last few years, most experts and producers agree on these four major product categories as being the most popular among users:

1. CBD Oil: CBD Oil is also called CBD tincture. Tinctures are agreed to be the most popular form of CBD product. One of the main reasons for the popularity of tinctures is its ease in injection. It can be ingested under the tongue or in food. Ingesting under the tongue is the more popular than putting oil in food. The reason for this is the the tongue is a gateway into numerous blood vessels throughout the body. Therefore, the affects of CBD will begin quickly. Ingesting with food could take 30 or more minutes.

2. CBD Gummies: There are many types of edibles for both CBD and marijuana products; brownies, drinks and candies. Gummies seem to be the top seller out of all of these. However, keep in mind that dummies will enter through the digestive tract. As a result, the effect will not kick in as quickly as would be with tincture oil injected under the tongue.

3. CBD Capsules: This is the term uses to describe CBD in pill form. These are typically gel capsules infused with CBD. Like gummies, Capsules travel through the digestive tract and may take 30 minutes or longer to kick in.

4. CBD Topicals: These are creams, balms and lotions. These products are unique in that there are not meant for oral ingestion. Instead they are meant to be applied to areas of discomfort on the body. Other people believe that dry skin stays moisturized for longer periods when using CBD lotion.

Which Product Should I Take?
My answer to the question is to try various products and see which results you prefer. I believe in starting with “low doses” and increasing as needed. Also take into account your specific needs. If you’re looking for a supplemental vitamin, a capsule may be best for you. If you’re looking for something fast acting, tinctures would likely suit you best.
